On March 6, a ribbon cutting ceremony celebrated the completion of Phase 1 of Tomahawk Park. The Mayor and City Council members officially opened the park that included a playground, internal trail loop, and open green space.
Phase II was completed in August 2025 and included the addition of a parking lot, picnic shelter, restrooms, and additional trail segments.
The park encompasses a total of 12 acres of land, situated between 155th and 158th Streets and west of the intersection of 155th Street and Chestnut Street. The land where the park is located was generously donated by Steve and Darla Miles.
An additional trail connection, Metro Green Trail project, establishes a connection between 155th Street and 158th Street through Tomahawk Park. This was constructed in 2024 as a result of external grant funding the City was awarded.
