Tomahawk Park

Phase II Improvements for Tomahawk Park are Underway!

The playground will be closed for the duration of the construction, which is expected to be completed before the end of July.

3.29 Tomahawk Park Closing

Tomahawk Park is located on a 12-acre site situated between 155th and 158th Streets and west of the intersection of 155th Street and Chestnut Street.

This project was made possible through the generous land donation made by Steve and Darla Miles. Once fully completed, Tomahawk Park will feature a multi-use trail, a playground, a picnic shelter, and restrooms. An open play area will be preserved, allowing for field activities such as frisbee or a game of fetch.

Tomahawk Park is being constructed in two phases:

Phase I – Phase I was completed March 2023 and includes a playground and trail loop connecting to Landauer Street.

Phase II – Phase II is currently in progress and includes additional trail segments, completing the connection between 155th and 158th Street. This phase also includes the construction of a parking lot, picnic shelter, and restrooms.Tomahawk Park March 14 2024--6

Tomahawk Park will connect with the planned roadway/pedestrian improvements to 155th Street and the trail improvements to 158th Street and Parallel Road. This project is funded through a combination of cash reserves and capital improvement funds. For the 158th Street and Parallel bicycle and pedestrian improvements to which Tomahawk Park will connect, the City received $500,000 from the Mid-America Regional Council’s Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) – the largest possible grant award under the TAP program.
