About Planning & Zoning
The Planning Department includes Planning, Engineering, and Building Inspection. This department provides physical and economic development for the city, including future plans, zoning and subdivision regulation documents, local development incentives, and maps.
Department Goal
The department’s goal is to provide the highest level of service to the residents and development community pursuant to the safe, orderly, efficient growth of the city of Basehor.

GIS is an online mapping tool that allows visitors to view numerous land details such as property boundaries, land use, roads, municipal boundaries, water districts, school districts, and tax districts.
This online mapping tool provides can provide an aerial photo of the desired property that demonstrates the right-of-ways, property lines, creeks and ponds, buildings, flood zones, elevation, soil types, land use, etc.

Application & Review Schedule

Basehor Connected Downtown Corridor
The Basehor Connected Downtown Corridor has been identified as the area along 155th Street from Leavenworth Road continuing south to Basehor Boulevard. In early 2024, the City of Basehor conducted multiple public engagement meetings to understand the needs and desires of the surrounding community and recommend improvements.
The City of Basehor is pleased to announce that it was awarded a grant through the Planning Sustainable Places Committee with the Mid-America Regional Council (MARC). This grant allowed us to conduct a study on improving the connectivity of our downtown corridor.
Following the study, the Basehor Downtown Corridor Improvement Plan was created and can be viewed here:
