155th Street is located within the center of Basehor and is a major road for the city, including its access to the local high school and connection to State Avenue highway. The goal of the 155th Street Improvement Project is to improve the quality of life for the citizens of Basehor.
This improvement project promotes safe walkability opportunities and addresses increased traffic, especially while school is in session. The 155th Street Improvement project extends north from Wolf Creek Parkway to the entrance of Legacy Senior Apartments and is approximately 1.5 miles long.

This project will improve overall safety for both motorists and non-motorists, including the addition of needed turn lanes and a 10-foot wide multi-use path for pedestrians and bicyclists. The improvements will also include a 5-foot wide sidewalk on the opposite side of street from the multi-use path. A new roundabout with a protected pedestrian crossing will be installed at the Parallel Road intersection.

The total 155th Street Improvement project is estimated to cost $13.2 million. More than 70% of the funds, $9.4 million, were awarded to the city in grants and external funding.
Construction is scheduled to begin in 2024 and is part of Basehor Connected, an ongoing community transportation improvement initiative. Basehor Connected is focused on creating a network that connects people and places, efficiently, comfortably, and safely.
