Curbside Trash Services

The City of Basehor has a contract with Brothers Disposal to provide solid waste disposal and recycling services. 

Rate

Trash and recycling service has a combined monthly rate of $25.70

Trash & Recycling Carts

Basehor city limits residents receive a 95-gallon trash cart with a red lid and a 65-gallon recycling cart with a blue lid from Brothers Disposal. 

Waste Pick-Up

These carts must be used to ensure pick-up. 

Position your trash and recycling carts with the handles facing your house side-by-side and at least 3 feet apart and 1 foot from the curb and they must be out by 6 a.m. on your service day. 

Pickup Schedule

City Wide Trash and Recycle Pickup operates four days a week, Monday through Thursday. You can find your address’ collection day by CLICKING HERE and entering your address in the top right corner. 

If any of the holidays listed below occur on a regularly scheduled service day, the service will be postponed until the next business day. When a holiday occurs during the week, any service days on and after the holiday will be delayed by one business day.

Example: If the holiday occurs on Monday; Monday collections will be delayed until Tuesday. Tuesday collections will then be delayed until Wednesday and so forth. Please reference the table below to find the day your trash and recycling will be retrieved. 
*On weeks with a holiday, collections normally scheduled for pick up on Thursday will be delayed until Friday.

Please contact the City at 913-724-1370 if you have any trash questions, concerns, or problems pertaining to the trash/recycle containers or missed pickups. Trash stickers for trash overage can be purchased at City Hall.

Excluded Waste

Excluded waste shall mean, without limitation, any regulated quantity of hazardous waste or hazardous substance as defined by federal, state, or local laws or regulations.

-Containerized wastes-the contents of which are not able to be identified

-Sludges

-Waste from a pollution control process or cleanup of a spill of a chemical substance or commercial product

-Waste tires

-Biohazards or regulated medical waste

-Friable asbestos

-Construction and demolition waste

-Soil

-Sod

-Tree branches and stumps

-Paint

-Motor oil

-Excessive storm debris or debris resulting from weather events

-Any item too large or heavy to be contained within a 95-gallon cart

-Any waste or material that is prohibited from being received, managed, or disposed of at the disposal facility. 

Overflow Waste Stickers

Trash must be placed in plastic bags inside the large poly cart. Any bags (33 gallons or less) that do not fit inside the cart require overflow waste stickers. Overflow waste stickers are available for $1.25 each and can be purchased at Basehor City Hall.
