Basehor's population increased 106% making it the fastest-growing city in Leavenworth County within the last decade. The 2010 U.S. Census Bureau revealed a Basehor population of 4,610 compared to a population of 2,238 in 2000. It is estimated the City's current population is 4,692.

The Mayor of Basehor has created the Care Council, a committee designed to award 2013 budgeted funds to deserving Basehor non-profit organizations.

There are many opportunities in Basehor to become a part of the community and join with others to improve the lives of those around us. Many of the organizations focus on supporting the youth of the community as well as building a strong community and helping our neighbors.

Anyone 60 years or older is eligible to receive meals at the Leavenworth County Council on Aging Nutrition Sites. Seniors must further qualify for Meals on Wheels home delivery. The local nutrition site is at the Hickory Villa Dining Hall located at 15426 Hickory Street

Basehor PRIDE is associated with the Kansas PRIDE Program which is a self-help program developed to help people take the initiative in making their community a better place to live and work.
